Two Ways a Woman can get Hurt

Advertisement has such a way of twisting people's thoughts and feelings. In the essay, "Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt" by Jean Kilbourne, example after example are shown how advertisement has twisted peoples thoughts and feelings. One of the ads that Kilbourne talks about is the "No" add. People say No is No, but when its advertised that no really means yes, some people will justify reason. No one can fully understand what its like to say no to someone and have them treat you like your saying yes, until you have experienced it yourself. Many claim that we should have better common sense than to act in such a way and I agree, but not all people are going to act with common sense. The way that ads portray woman as weak and inferior makes me sick. Unfortunately many young ladies mimic that style and trend and concequently become victims themselves. The thing that people fail to understand is that a person can present themselves in an orderly manner and still be a victim of something they did not bring upon themselves. Advertisement isn't the only reason from abuse but it is a factor and as long as we play into it, the more our world is going to struggle. Sometimes its easier to problems on advertisement. Sure there are others that contribute to the problems of the workd but going after one thing at a time is the best way to over come the corrupt image of woman and men, and what better place to start than with the media.
